Read below for a letter from Search Committee Vice Chair, Elizabeth Holleman, shared with the Congregation on Sunday, March 23, on behalf of the Music Ministry Search Committee: Will Crawford, Sarah Frye, Elizabeth Holleman, Laura Lomax, Maggie Martin (Secretary), Mark McCracken, Matt Messick (Chair), Levone Tobin Scott, Tommy Starnes and Pastor Alan Sherouse.
On behalf of the Music Ministry Search Committee, I am thrilled to be here this morning sharing updates regarding our work and the process of calling our next Minister of Music. We have been here before… just last year! However, had we not gone through this process last year, we would not have had the opportunity to encounter the wonderful candidate that we have today.
Our committee has unanimously and enthusiastically centered on this Candidate to present to the church over the next couple of weeks. The Candidate’s name and bio will be shared on April 2, and we will have a Call Sunday on April 6. That is two weeks from today. Opportunities to meet the Candidate in a variety of settings will be scheduled for that Call Weekend. The Candidate will lead us in worship on April 6 and the Congregation will vote at the close of worship to affirm that Candidate in a Called Church Conference.I want to personally thank each member of the Music Ministry Search Committee that I have had the privilege of serving with, our Pastoral Staff, and the Congregation for your invaluable input throughout this entire process (and that includes a little bit of harassment from Don Fuller!), which has all helped lead us to our Candidate.
Please continue to pray for our Candidate and the exciting music ministry that is ahead of us.
AND… be sure to tell all family and friends to put April 6 on the calendar for this momentous day. It will be glorious. ALL thanks be to God!
