Giving at First Baptist Church Greensboro

Why We Give

Giving financially is a chance for us to honor God with the resources and provisions that God has provided for us. When we practice generous giving, we strengthen our relationship with Christ. As we learn to grow in our trust and faith in Christ, it is important to trust in Christ’s provision. As people of faith, we give faithfully and generously out of grateful hearts, because God has given to us faithfully and generously.

How to Give

We pass an offering plate during the worship service. Most members give their offerings to the church by putting a check in an envelope and placing the envelope in the offering plate as it is passed on Sunday mornings. Others who cannot attend on particular Sundays mail their checks to the church. Others use their online banking and set up one time or automatic payments that are sent to the church through their bank. Still others set up their online giving through the church website. We also have a mobile giving option through Tithe.ly for use on both  iOS and Android devices. Click any of the links below to learn more about all of our giving options.

Traditional Giving Options
Cash & Checks
Cash & Checks (The most common way donations are received by the church.) Please make checks payable to First Baptist Church.  Checks may be dropped in the offering plate on Sundays or can be mailed or dropped off in the church office.  For convenience, the church will provide giving envelopes to members every two months.  Any gifts received by the church in these giving envelopes will be tracked and sent out in financial statements.
Stocks & Mutual Funds
The church finance office has information on how to easily transfer stocks and mutual funds from your account to the church’s account.   If the gift is of securities that have been held for more than one year, the donor may be able to deduct the full fair market value of the securities and avoid paying any capital gains tax.
Wills, Bequests & Estate Planning
A Charitable gift can be given to the church through your will or other estate plans.  Such a gift can be used to honor the Lord from the financial increase He has given you during your lifetime (Proverbs 3.9-10) and to benefit your church in wonderful ways.  If you choose to include the church in your will or estate plan, please let your attorney know the church’s name and address (First Baptist Church, 1000 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27401).  Further, please communicate to your attorney that the church is a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the state of North Carolina, and that our tax identification number is 56-0591300.  If you have already included the church in your will, please let us know so that we can say “thank you.”
