We’re thrilled to welcome our Summer Interns — Tyler Smith and James Dolph!

Please help to welcome Tyler and James to these summer roles, and extend the hospitality and support of our church throughout this summer of growing and serving together.

TYLER  SMITH

We are excited to welcome recent Wake Forest School of Divinity graduate and church member Tyler Smith as our Pastoral Intern this summer! Tyler is discerning a call to congregational ministry and ordination so you will see him in many areas of church life, including worship leadership, pastoral care, missions, and more. Tyler’s internship is being supervised by Amy Starr Russell.

Tyler is originally from Siler City, North Carolina. In addition to his Master of Divinity, Tyler graduated from Greensboro College with a BA in Religion & Sociology (’22). With a heart for justice and compassion, Tyler’s theological focus centers on how Christian communities can actively support those in need. Tyler has worked in higher education in student support roles, including creating an on-campus food pantry at Greensboro College.

JAMES DOLPH

Most of you know James from their previous summer with us as our Pastoral Intern and as our College Ministry Intern during the school year. This summer, James will take on the role of Youth Summer Intern until July 21, after which they will serve as our Acting Youth Minister for the 10 weeks of Chris Cherry’s sabbatical.

In the position of Youth Summer Intern, James will participate in the Youth Summer Mission Trip to Asheville in June and Passport Camp in July. They will also be planning additional events for youth to enjoy during the summer months. In addition to working with the youth, James will also contribute to worship on Sunday mornings.

Originally from Nebraska, James holds an undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan and has recently completed their third year of a Master of Divinity degree at Wake Forest School of Divinity. They bring high energy and a warmth to every interaction they have. James is excited for this additional ministry experience as they enter their last year of Divinity School next year and continue discerning the possibility of ordination with our Congregation.
