At First Baptist Greensboro, the Advent season is a time of reflection, anticipation, and celebration as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Throughout the season, our worship services and special gatherings focus on hope, peace, joy, and love. Below are many ways to be involved in the life of our church this Advent season.

 

November 30 | Advent 1 Worship at 10:30 am
Join us as we begin the Advent season this Sunday at First Baptist Greensboro! The First Sunday of Advent marks the start of a season of hope, anticipation, and preparation as we await the celebration of Christ’s birth. We look forward to celebrating this meaningful season together. Come be part of this special worship experience and let the light of Christ guide your Advent journey.

 

November 30 | Hanging of the Green Service at 6:00 pm
Join us for the Hanging of the Green Service as we begin Advent. This beloved tradition marks the start of the Christmas season as we decorate the sanctuary with evergreens, wreaths, and symbols of hope and joy. The service will be led by our Youth Music Ensembles as we decorate the sanctuary for the Advent season. All are welcome!

 

December 3 | Midweek Christmas Memories | Evening begins at 5:30 pm with a meal
Join us for a Midweek meal and Christmas Memories, a warm, family-friendly evening of holiday music, storytelling, and shared memories. We will be having Theo’s famous fried chicken for dinner! Reserve your meal here.  

 

December 7 | Advent 2 Worship at 10:30 am
Celebrate the second Sunday of Advent with us as we welcome the joyful sounds of handbells in worship. We invite everyone to come and experience the unique beauty of handbell music as part of our Advent journey.

 

December 10 | Midweek Carols | Evening begins at 5:30 pm with a meal
Join us for Midweek Carols, an evening of Christmas music, carols, and fellowship for all ages. Bring your voice and your holiday cheer as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Our meal this week is Taco Mama! Reserve your meal here. 

 

December 14 | Advent 3 Worship at 10:30 am 
Celebrate the third Sunday of Advent as our children will share their gifts, adding joy and wonder to the service as we continue our journey toward Christmas. Experience the enthusiasm and spirit of our children as they help lead us in worship and reflection during this season of anticipation.

 

December 14 | Spontaneous Nativity at 4:00 pm
Join us for the Spontaneous Nativity, a unique and interactive celebration of the Christmas story. Children, youth, and families are invited to participate as we bring the nativity to life in a joyful, creative way. Everyone is welcome to watch, participate, and experience the wonder of this story. 

 

December 17 | Longest Night Service at 6:00 pm in the Chapel
This quiet, contemplative service offers reflection, prayer, and music for those grieving, facing loss, or seeking peace during the holidays. Come as you are and share in a moment of comfort, hope, and community.

 

December 21 | Advent 4 Worship at 10:30 am 
Celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent with our Lessons and Carols Service, featuring a full orchestra. This beautiful service weaves together scripture readings, carols, and anthems to tell the story of Christ’s coming. Join us for a meaningful and inspiring worship experience that prepares our hearts for Christmas.

 

December 24 | Christmas Eve Football at Noon
Join us at a new location in Westerwood (TBA) for a fun game of touch football. All ages and abilities are welcome! This game happens rain, snow, or shine. It’s a great way to spend the afternoon before the evening’s worship.

 

December 24 | Christmas Eve Service at 5:00 pm
Gather with family and friends for our Christmas Eve Service in the Sanctuary. This service includes candlelight, carols, and the joyful celebration of Christ’s birth. All are welcome to experience the wonder and hope of Christmas!
