Bessemer Kindergarten Camp

“I really enjoy teaching art – which mainly involves them using scissors (many of them for the first time) to fine tune their motor skills. This helps them with learning to write.”  Beth Shaffer

“The kids remind us that even chaos can be joyful and balloons are magic.”  Cookie Hamilton

“Two four-day weeks go by in a hurry, but it is rewarding to see some contribution to their education and acclimation to a school environment has been made during that time. And the pay is great; a ‘high five’ or a ‘hug’ as we part.”  Jim Plyler

CLUE Camp

Anita Cranford spent last week in NYC serving alongside CBF Field Personnel and FBC’s Lesley-Ann Hix Tommey at Rauschensbusch Metro Ministries leading CLUE Camp for inner city children. Their theme, The Future is You and Me, sought to help campers understand that the choices they make today impact their future. They also learned about the importance of their voice and involvement in local, state, and national decision-making.

Earlier this summer, Lindsey Pegram served with a group from Youth for Christ in Managua, Nicaragua to help at a Christian girls’ school for children who can’t afford to go to public schools.

Upcoming Missions

In September, Cynthia Townes will travel to Armenia with a group from WMU NC to engage with 80-100 women to share in community building, Bible study in the Armenian language, and education about women’s health.  Please pray for Cynthia and her group as they build relationships and share Christ with other women across the globe.

Stay tuned for more stories and pictures from all of these journeys of sharing. Whether we journey a short while to serve our Greensboro neighbors here at home or journey across the miles to serve our neighbors in other parts of our country or world, we are thankful and faithful to partner with others to share God’s big love wherever we are called to serve.  Thanks be to God for the opportunities and thanks to all at FBC who help serve and share this summer and always.
