Committee on Committees Report
After reviewing congregational submissions and prayerful deliberation, the Committee on Committees is pleased to present the following members who have agreed to serve as church leaders in the following capacities beginning October 2023. We will be voting on this new slate of leaders at a Special Called Meeting at the conclusion of June 25 worship.

DEACON NOMINEES
Randy is married to Susan Bowers. They have an adult son and daughter-in-law who live in Durham. The Bowers family has been a part of First Baptist since 1986. Randy is retired from the textile industry. He has served on the Sound Committee, Committee on Committees, and as a Deacon. Randy loves being uplifted by fellow believers here at First Baptist and has made many lifelong friendships here.
Margaret Crawford
Margaret is married to Will Crawford. They have 7 adult children and 14 grandchildren. The Crawfords have been a part of First Baptist since 2018. Margaret is a retired school teacher and had a career in education. She has served on the Missions Committee as Secretary and Chairperson, and on the Search Committee for Associate Pastor for Missions and Community. Margaret currently serves as the Chair for the Senior Adult Council, Inspiro Advisory Board member, and a choir member. She loves that our church strives to be open and inclusive of a diversity of people. She believes that Missions are an important part of our calling as Christians and is such a strong focus of our church, both locally and in the broader community.
Scott is married to Nancy Culclasure. They have two adult children. The Culclasures have been a part of First Baptist Greensboro since 1981. Scott is a retired teacher. He has previously served as a Deacon, Deacon Chair, on several pastor search committees, and as Moderator. Scott currently serves as a teacher for the Covenant Sunday School class and as Personnel Committee Chair. He loves First Baptist because it has both nurtured him and his family and challenged him to continue to grow in faith as we strive to remain relevant to our community and culture.
Linda is married to Stephen Danford. They have 3 adult children and one grandchild. The Danfords joined First Baptist in 2022. Linda is a retired Instructor in the Classical Studies Department from UNCG. She currently serves as a member of the Senior Adult Council. Linda loves how our pastoral staff is strong in how they lead and preach, the strength of our music and youth ministries, and our single unified Sunday worship service.
Hazel has two adult children and is widowed. The Fisher family has been a part of First Baptist since 1970. Hazel is retired. She has served as Deacon (Chair); Finance Committee (Chair); Endowment Trust Committee (Chair); Moderator; Church Clerk; Assistant Treasurer; Christian Assistance Committee; Committee on Committees; Pastoral Discernment Committee; Pastor Search Committees; Sunday School Facilitator; and Long-Range Planning Committee. Hazel currently serves on the Bereavement Team and is a part of a WMU Group. For Hazel, First Baptist has always been a sanctuary for her. She loves that she and John raised their children in a protective and loving environment. Hazel also loves that the members of our staff – ministerial, administrative, custodial – exemplify excellence at the highest level.
Trisha is married to Ron Hooper. They have two adult sons. The Hoopers have been a part of First Baptist since 1992. Trisha is a retired middle school teacher. She has previously served with Mobile Meals, Missions Committee, Volunteer with FBC mission partner Bessemer Elementary School, Coordinated Sunday School support for an emergency food pantry, Bereavement Committee, and as a Deacon. She currently serves in the First C.A.R.E. team. She loves that First Baptist Greensboro is a place that encourages, supports and cares for one another, that we cherish all ages, and have many opportunities for all to participate in church life. She also loves that, “All Are Welcome Here”.
Lynn is married to Debbie Huneycutt. They have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. The Huneycutts have been a part of First Baptist since 2010. Lynn retired from a career in Financial Services. He has served on multiple projects with Community Housing Foundation, Community Garden, and meal packing events with Rise Against Hunger. Lynn currently serves on the Missions Committee. He loves the environment in which he finds ongoing renewal of his spirit through the teaching in both Sunday School and worship. Lynn finds the creativity associated with both these ministries reaches the depths of his soul.
Cindy has been a part of First Baptist since 2012. She is widowed. Cindy retired from a career in banking as a regional commercial credit manager. She currently serves as the Director of a WMU Group, on the Finance Committee, Bereavement Committee, Community Garden, and as the Children’s K – 1 choir/accompanist. Cindy loves First Baptist because the members and staff have been so welcoming and supportive, as well as the wide array of programs and activities for all ages.
Molly is married to Scott Lyle. They have two children Christopher (21) and Julia (19). The Lyle family joined First Baptist in 1987. Molly is a hospice social worker. She has served as a Music & Missions teacher and children’s Sunday School teacher. She has also served on the finance committee, Christian Assistance Fund Committee, Missions pastor search committee, Junior Deacon, nomination committee, and as a VBS volunteer. First Baptist has been a part of Molly’s life for a long time and she has been shaped by many of its ministries.
Corie is married to Elaine Boroughs McRae. They have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. The McRaes have been a part of First Baptist since 1987. Corie is a retired regional manager and agent with Nationwide Insurance. He has served as Usher, FBC Shower Ministry for people experiencing homelessness, Funeral Host, and on the Finance Committee. First Baptist Greensboro felt like coming home when Corie joined. He loved the warmth, friendship, inclusivity, and encouragement within the body of believers that has strengthened his faith journey.
Tom is married to Cynthia Townes. They have two children, Miller (26) & Susannah (25). The Townes family has been a part of First Baptist since 1993. Tom works in commercial real estate brokerage & investment. He has served as a Deacon, on the Finance Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, Endowment Trust Committee (chair), the Journey Sunday school class, Visioning Task Force, Hope and Heritage Campaign Committee, and various construction teams. Tom currently serves as the Endowment Trust chair. He loves First Baptist because of the friendly, caring and giving people.
Laura Caroline is married to Ross Rick. They have one child, Palmer Grey (2). The Rick family has been a part of First Baptist since 2022. Laura Caroline works as the Director of Communications for The Rams Club. She is excited to serve the church in any capacity. She loved that her family was home from when they began visiting. She also felt like she would be able to get involved and make a meaningful impact on and with our congregation and community.
Jill is married to Mark Pegram. They have two adult children and 5 grandchildren. Jill is a lifelong member of First Baptist. She retired from a 40 plus year career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Laboratory Administrator at Cone Health. Jill has served as a deacon, on the Personnel Committee, Bylaws Committee, Committee on Committees, and as a member of the sanctuary choir for over 25 years. Jill currently is a part of the choir, serving as the music librarian, and is a front desk volunteer. She loves that First Baptist has so many young families and the energy they bring, the diversity of the pastoral staff, and that the church is spirit filled. Jill also appreciates how the church has adapted over the years to keep up with our ever changing society/community/world while still remaining true to our history and heritage.
