First Baptist has a long standing tradition of honoring graduating high school seniors, and that commitment remains true in 2020, even with so many things looking different. Starting Monday, June 1, we will have Senior Week. Most of this content will be available on the Youth Ministry Instagram page (@fbcgreensboroyouth) and some will be shared on the church’s Facebook page, as well. Senior Week will include Alan Sherouse and Chris Cherry visiting the front yard of each senior to deliver gifts and celebrate with them from a safe distance, profiles of each senior on social media, and the debut of the Senior Sendoff video. The week will conclude with Senior Recognition as a part of worship on June 7.

The traditional elements of Senior Brunch and Baccalaureate Sunday have been moved to August with the hopes of being able to do those rites of passage outdoors, but in person. Even if that ends up not being possible, we will still hold these events creatively and safely in whatever way proves to be necessary. Senior Brunch will be on August 8 followed by Senior-led Baccalaureate Sunday worship on August 9. Senior Lock-in will be held on Friday night July 31.

Honoring graduating seniors is about more than just giving gifts and reminding them that we are proud of their accomplishments. We also honor our seniors because it is a stage of life transition that requires something extra, we want them to know they always have a home at First Baptist, and we want them to see that their multi-generation congregation loves them. 2020 may look different, but the love and appreciation for each senior has not changed. We are proud of every member of the Class of 2020 and will continue to journey with them long into the future.

To the church as a whole, we say thank you for your love and support of these seniors. Thank you for helping to raise them in faith. And thank you for the continued connection you will provide them as they move forward.

To our seniors, we say our love for you extends well beyond the gifts and reminders of how proud we are. This is a stage of life transition that requires something extra. We want you to know that you always have a home at First Baptist Greensboro, you have a multi-generational congregation standing behind you, and we look forward to journeying with you long into the future. Remember the way home!

We look forward to a Baccalaureate Service and Senior Brunch in August, where our seniors will lead us in worship. But for now, enjoy the yard parties that Pastor Alan Sherouse and Youth Minister Chris Cherry held with each senior this week!

Senior Sendoff 2020 Video: Hear from nine members of the Class of 2020 as they reflect on their experiences at FBC, their journey with faith, and their future plans. They also share some laughs along the way.

To all our Seniors, we are so proud of you and we love you. You always have a home at First Baptist Greensboro.
